Psychosocial Motivators of Drug Use

Abstract: A 10 page look at the most important psychosocial reasons why people turn to drugs. The writer is concerned with making the point that the stereotypical image of an underprivileged, ethnic minority abusing drugs is hardly a realistic one. Depression, peer pressure, and high society acceptance are among the major factors examined. From a psychological standpoint, the role of education in preventing drug use & abuse is stressed. bibliography lists 6 sources.
