Abstract: 7 pages in length, this paper argues the thesis that a total unification of Europe is not possible due to the diversity and national pride of the members of the European Union. This paper traces the history of Europe from the days of ancient Greece to the balance of power achieved between France and England following the Reformation to underscore the cultural tribalism of the countries of Europe. Also included is a comparison between the United States of America and the unification the European Union hopes to achieve. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
