Issues in Language Acquisition

Abstract: This 7 page paper explores the concepts surrounding the acquisition of language including the debate surrounding learning English as a second language. Additionally, perspectives of notable theorists such as Austin and Hymes are included. A discussion on how language impacts social action and communication as well as the necessity to have a dominant language is the focus of the paper. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
