American English As A Globalization Tool

Abstract: A 15 page research paper that describes how American English has affected globalization. In an argument that American English is accidental, and perhaps an interim communications tool, the writer reviews examples of how other languages contributed to the creation of American English, and explores how American English has increased worldwide to become the second-largest language in the world and the secondary language of most of the world population. Much of this growth has spurred alarm and criticism of the spread of American English. The writer explores two views on the issue in relationship, particularly in regard to the influence of the Internet and the communications industry, generally. Bibliography lists 16 sources.
