Abstract: This 4 page paper is written in 2 parts. The first part identifies the main institutional capital flows between countries and considers how these have changed over the last half a century in the context of developing countries. The second part of the paper looks at the differences in the international financial and monetary systems during the end of the 19th century, after the Second World War and after 1971.
