Russian Mafia

Abstract: A 4 page research paper that discusses this topic. Since the fall of the former Soviet Union, there has been a consistent image of Russia as a nation that is caught in the vise-like grip of organized crime. While there is some truth to this image, there are also misconceptions that have been explored by scholarship over the last several years. This discussion of the Russian mafia looks at the history of this criminal element, as well as its growth and current impact on society, in order to offer an evolutionary analysis.
