The Perfect Writing Class

Abstract: A 3 page essay that discusses what the perfect writing class might be like. The writer covers possible writing assignments, grading practice and suggested textbooks. To this writer/tutor's way of thinking, the perfect writing class is one in which the focus is on writing. That sounds rather simplistic, but a quick look online shows numerous writing courses where the emphasis seems to be on quizzes, tests and completing reading assignments. This writer/tutor believes that the focus of a writing class should be on the task of actually writing, that is, on personal creativity and learning how to apply instruction toward the task of completing manuscripts and projects. Therefore, a vision of an ideal writing class, in my opinion, would not encompass any traditional quizzes or tests, as such. Rather, grades from the class would derive solely from what the students write, but that should encompass a great deal. Bibliography lists 1 source.
