Fatih Akin

Abstract: This 42 page paper examines how the Turkish director Fatih Akin explores and represents issues of cross-National culture and dual national identity in his films. The paper does this by looking at the history of Turkish immigrants in Germany, looks at the way culture has developed. The paper then looks at how immigrant culture, inside and outside of Germany has been represented by other filmmakers, including, but not limited to Douglas Sirk and Fassbinder before looking at the work of Akin and assessing the way it reflects the cultural issues. The bibliography cites 11 sources.
