Abstract: The name Ralph Nader is well known in the United States. For many, the name conjures up a change in attitude, from the feeling of being helpless before the power of powerful corporate interests to having some-one who will speak for and speak up for the people in this country. This 18 page paper focuses on the historical background of consumer advocacy fronted by Ralph Nader and the work of Public Citizen, the organization he founded in the late 1960's.
