Abstract: A 4 page essay that describes and analyzes the movie Citizen Kane as art. Citizen Kane (RKO, 1941) is Orson Welles' masterpiece. Welles produced and directed the film, as well as performing in its starring role. A dark comment on the nature of modern society and the corrupting influence of materialism, this film qualifies as art on several levels. First and foremost, it is an example of superb storytelling that conveys profound truths about the human condition. Secondly, the film advanced the cinematography to an extraordinary degree.
