Abstract: A 5 page paper discussing Southwest's product and the challenges it faces in the future. Still able to claim only profitable quarters for all of its existence, post-hurricane fuel prices are proving to be problematic. And as other airlines gain dramatic concessions from labor unions through bankruptcy court, Southwest currently pays its pilots as much as 30 percent more than any other pilots in the industry. The company's competitive advantage always has been and continues to be its strong corporate culture, and the company will need to ensure it preserves that culture as it plans for the future.
