Media Depictions of Gender

Abstract: A 5 page contention that our social constructs of gender are impacted by a number of factors. One of the more insidious of these factors is the media. To some degree, our contemporary ideas of gender are constructed in, by, and through media representations. Children, in particular, are susceptible to the influence of the media in shaping their ideas of gender. These ideas are then put into play in various aspects of our culture, our society, our economy, and our individual lives. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
