Abstract: This 15 page paper looks the role of gender and class in contemporary Hollywood films. The paper looks at two modern films; The Matrix of 1999 and Underworld in 2003. The paper looks at the representations of class and gender and applies modern theory to these films to demonstrate the way that dominate stereotypes are retained even where films appear to react against social constraints.
