The Genre of Film Noir

Abstract: This 10 page report discusses film noir and presents the main characteristics of the genre. The transformations that have occurred in the genre over the past 50 to 60 years are outlined. A modern film, "The Matrix" is used as an example of how the unique attributes of film noir have mutated in films that are classified as belonging to an entire different genre. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
