What Is America's Favorite Sport?

Abstract: 5 pages in length. The question is both loaded and debatable; depending upon which side of the sporting fence one resides, the answer might just incite a full-fledged riot. Which game really is America's favorite sport? Given the recent turmoil in both football and baseball camps, not to mention the ongoing rivalry between the two sports to outdo each other for the top position, it might seem a difficult challenge to choose just one. In spite of these tribulations, however, one must look at more than just the most recent polls and examine the impact one sport in particular has historically had upon the nation as a whole: baseball.
