Abstract: This 8 page paper explains the meaning of several economic concepts. These include the role of supply and demand and what is meant by elasticity and how it can be calculated. The difference between nominal and real rates, with examples, the difference between flow and stock, different types of value such as face value, present value and future value. The paper also explains different types of financing, such as equity and debt capital, and different economy types; open and closed economies and the way they may be associated with capitalism and command economies. The final topic is foreign exchange rates and how the rates vary.
