Environmental Law and Liability

Abstract: This 16 page paper considers a case where a company wishes to buy land that is contaminated. The first part of the paper considers the legal position of the company with regard the pollution and potential liabilities if the land purchase goes ahead. The paper makes reference to environmental law in the UK including, but not limited to, the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Water Resources Act 1991. The shorter second part of the paper considers how an offer on the land may be made to allow for these potential liabilities. The bibliography cites 10 sources.
