The Maastricht Treaty and the European Union: The Emergence of a New Europe

Abstract: An 11 page discussion of the history leading up to the Maastricht Treaty and its relation to the European Union. A discussion is presented as to how these developments have impacted Europe in regard to economic and political considerations. What has emerged from the Maastricht Treaty is a stronger and more politically cohesive Europe, a Europe which can offer significant positive influence on the rest of the world in terms of her enhanced leadership potential.
