Abstract: A 5 page paper presenting a memo to President Bush discussing the value of subjecting environmental alternatives to cost-benefit analysis to determine their real worth. Cost-benefit analysis is highly useful for putting the relative value of choices into perspective. It brings with it the value of reducing emotional issues to factual ones, and allows the emergence of policy that is truly beneficial, not only for the present, but also for the long term. It allows policy makers to make choices that will be sustainable over time. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
