The Amazon Rain Forests: Preservation Trends Over The Past Twenty Years

Abstract: 8 pages in length. The ongoing battle between preservation efforts and modern industry continues to threaten the very existence of Amazon rain forests. While governmental efforts to preserve the biodiversity seek to set aside a minimum of ten percent of the rain forest as a reflection of the largest single commitment to preserve land in the Amazon region of Brazil, modern production methods battle to maintain the ability to exploit the land of its timber and other valuable commodities. At the center of this raging debate resides the fundamental principles of sustainable growth in a region where it will be only a matter of time before the absence of such biodiversity at the hands of loggers and miners results in the complete eradication of Amazon rain forests and the species that depend upon them for survival.
