Abstract: 14 pages. The stagflation of the 1970s refers to the high unemployment and high inflation rates that the United States went through during the latter part of the 1970's and the early part of the 1980's. This paper explains some of the reasons behind these troubling times and some of the possible reasons the United States was able to pull through it. Bibliography lists 8 sources.
