30 Years of Interest Rates and the S&P 500

Abstract: A 10 page paper evaluating the relationship between interest rates and the S&P 500 index, for the purpose of determining whether the two are connected. Of course we know the stock market grew at its greatest rates and to its highest volumes ever during the decade of the 1990s, while interest rates sank lower than they had been since the 1960s. It is tempting to place a direct link between interest rates and the value of the S&P 500, but that relationship likely will not be supported by further analysis. Bibliography lists 6 sources.
