Abstract: 7 pages. This is an essay about the remarkable poet Jimmy Santiago Baca and his life as shown through his poetry. Growing up in the Barrio and writing about the reality of life as he saw it, Baca's words are at once gripping and shocking and yet can also be romantic and endearing. All of these emotions springing from one man shows us that one can see much more of the man if we are able to read his soul as he pours it out on paper. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
