Abstract: 10 pages. This interesting paper on the monetary system in the United States first gives an overview of how important the driving force of money is in our society and culture. Given in both a historical and current view, the reader can clearly see how important money is in many ways for social status. The paper then describes the Federal Reserve System, or the 'keepers' of the monetary system as well as historical ups and downs we have seen in the economy of our country.
