Abstract: This 5 page paper examines the psychological aspects of the poem, Ode to a Nightingale. Compared to the Tintern Abbey by Wordsworth and drawing from a letter to John Hamilton, this paper describes the probable state of mind of Keats when he composed the poem. His metaphysical statement about conscious thought and the 'dark passages' of the human experience are discussed. Examples and direct quotes given. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
