Stagflation

Abstract: In this well written 11 page paper the writer takes and in-depth look at stagflation; the phenomenon of concurrent inflation and recession. The paper defines what is meant by stagflation, looks to how it may occur, its' impact on an economy and how it may be dealt with and managed. Traditional and new theories are discussed. The paper uses the example of the New Zealand economy to illustrate the problems that may be found when the fiscal tools government use to manage the economy are limited or eliminated leaving only monetary tools.
