US "Dirty Laundry" 1865-1900

Abstract: (5 pp) "Dirty laundry" is a collection of those less than reputable things, which mother always told us not to air in public. Government "dirty laundry" is often much more difficult to hide, and usually seems to "smell" much more when it does appear. As a country, we must have needed to do a lot of "washing" at the end of the nineteenth century, as it certainly seems that we had more than our share of corruption and abuses of power from 1865 - 1900. We will look at some of that political distortion in this discussion. Some historic dates will be listed, just as orientation tools. Bibliography lists 2 sources.
