Ousider cultures

Abstract: A paper which takes the concept of insider and outsider cultures, as demonstrated by the relationship of mainstream society to minority groups, and looks at the way in which different groups within society work on an antagonistic model in order to define themselves against each other. The paper considers the association of language, art and historical documentation with the development of cultural parameters, and the extent to which it is possible to define the structure of a dominant group against the impact which minorities have upon it.
