Abstract: This 10 page paper consider the single European currency zone and the role of the European Central Bank in managing the economy. The paper first considers the monetary policies of the ECB and how they may be used to keep inflation low. The paper then argues that there are some more important economic goals than low inflation. Financial the paper considers the interaction of inflation and unemployment looked at short term and long term Philips curves. The paper includes three graphs and the bibliography cites 10 sources.
