Abstract: A 6 page paper discussing the problems of existing accounting methods at a medium-sized retailer, the benefits of an activity-based system of management accounting and an approach to implementation. Senior management is reluctant to commit to the costs of implementing a management accounting system, but the paper shows that incremental implementation on the department level is effective right away.
