Abstract: This 10 page paper consider the regulatory framework for accounting by looking at some specific cases that demonstrate problems with the current framework. The cases are broad ranging and include Re London v General Bank (no 2) 1895, the GEC take-over of AEI 1967, Pergamon 1968, the Law Society v KPMG Peat Marwick (2000), and finally the Robert Maxwell case. The paper considers the problems individual and then goes on to discuses potential solutions. The bibliography cites 10 sources.
