Abstract: A thirteen page paper which charts the rise and fall of the south-east Asian nations known as the Asian Tigers, and looks at the way in which massive foreign investment had a negative impact on the domestic economies of these countries, resulting in the slump and recession of the 1990s. The relative success of Taiwan during this period, in comparison to other countries of the region, is also analysed. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
