Energy in California: Crisis, Challenge or Both?

Abstract: (5 pp) In February of this year (2001), California Public Utilities send a message to its subscribers, "Yes the energy shortage is real!" It then goes on to say that the State of California has a population of 35 million and is the world's sixth largest economy. Obviously that is a lot of light switches. The Utility is asking its users to modify their habits and reduce their energy consumption. It is estimated that use can be reduced by eight percent through customer self-monitoring Bibliography lists 8 sources.
