Analysis of "Tough Package - Here's One Measure of Economy's Health: Corrugated Box Sales"

Abstract: A 5 page paper analyzing management decisions in terms of financial function. Business and finance writers have taken to looking in diverse directions for signs of what truly is happening with the US economy. In this article, McDaniel (2001) writes that orders for corrugated boxes could be used as a clue of the financial future. The author may well have discovered an indicator that can be more reliable than the more abstract ones. The article discusses several different aspects of manufacturing operations, particularly that of Just-In-Time (JIT) production and inventory control; the paper assigns finance functional perspectives.
