Canadian Government: Alternative Services

Abstract: 5 pages in length. Providing alternative services in any community is often a difficult achievement, inasmuch as these particular services are typically government or privately subsidized and perpetually needing additional funding in order to continue operation. Canada's government has established a modest collection of alternative services primarily focused upon women's issues; it is because state activity is so sparse that the Canadian government has stepped in to provide these somewhat limited services for information, advice, counseling, referral, rape crisis and safe houses for battered women and their children.
