The Effects of Holiday Shopping on the Economy

Abstract: 7 pages in length. Everybody knows that retailers anxiously await the Christmas shoppers to flock to their stores during the holidays in order to give the final shot in the arm to their year end sales. Sometimes an excellent shopping holiday can make the difference between a retailer ending up in the red or the black on bottom line profits. On the other hand, a poor Christmas season can dash the hopes of any retailer and just as easily cause the entire economy to finish the year with a disappointing finale.
