Abstract: A five page paper which looks at how the World Trade Organisation of the 1990s evolved out of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in the 1940s, and how it is currently structured. The writer also considers the ways in which the WTO has been subjected to criticism by some nations for allowing its original aims to be undermined by the interests of corporate businesses.
