Heteronormativity and the History of Latin America

Abstract: This paper considers the defense waged by Hernando de Medina and Gaspar de Peralta defending the murder of their respective wives by arguing that they needed to recover their lost or stolen honor. This paper argues the central factors that determine the correlation between gender roles and the history of the male identification in Latin America, and then applies this to an understanding of heteronormativity and homosexuality as they are shaped by individuals perspectives.
