Not only did the coal company initially refuse to take accountability for the dedicated lives that were lost in the collapse, but the only reason it finally settled was for no other objective than to salvage the company's reputation. Indeed, this absence of social responsibility ignited a fire that burns through Stern's every word as he carefully, methodically and passionately relives the events that led up to the disaster, as well as the unforgivable aftermath of corporate unsympathetic indifference.
