Abstract: A 5 page discussion of the issues surrounding the threat of Quebec secession from Canada. Discusses the potential impacts to both Quebec and Canada. Concludes that French-Canadian identity has existed side-by-side with English identity because neither is discouraged. Each in effect enjoys a sort of regional autonomy. Quebec does not have to seek independence to maintain that autonomy. She has managed to maintain her cultural and linguistic uniqueness throughout Canadian history and she can continue to do so as a productive, yet distinct, part of Canada.
