Differences Between Howard Hawks' Film Adaptation of "The Big Sleep" and Raymond Chandler's Novel

Abstract: A 5 page paper which examines the changes Howard Hawks had in his 1946 film adaptation of Raymond Chandler's novel, "The Big Sleep," particularly in terms of figurative language, the transformation from first-person narrative observations to third-person cinema, and how certain scenes had to be improvised and rewritten by screenwriter William Faulkner in the name of dramatic or romantic action.
