The Relationship of Income and Health Care Spending

Abstract: A 5 page paper discussing health care usage as it relates to income. This is of interest to a variety of organizational types, not the least of which are HMOs seeking to find the most competitive levels at which to operate. In a larger context, the budget-restricted governments of developing nations also seek such information so that they can ask their populace to contribute to their own health care while not driving the price up too high for people to feel that they can afford it. The paper examines the issue using supply and demand, income elasticity of demand, price elasticity, cross price elasticity and the effects of insurance. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
