Fatal Distraction - The Detrimental Factors Surrounding Females in Combat

Abstract: A 9 page paper that argues the point that female military personnel should not be placed in direct combat positions during times of war. The opinions and justifications presented by this opposition are discussed in detail as well as the arguments held by advocates of this issue. Included are a brief discussion of the military roles executed by female soldiers during the Gulf War of 1991 and a short summary of the reasons behind the Department of Defense's 1998 decision to uphold its ban on female ground combat positions. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
