Generational Changes in the World Auto Industry

Abstract: An 8 page paper discussing the changes that have taken place in the US and Japanese auto industry as it relates to the US market since 1985. The period has seen significant implementation of Total Quality Management, including the launch of GM's Saturn Division for the purpose of fully implementing the philosophies of TQM without the need of transforming existing corporate culture. The paper's purpose is to assess gross changes and determine whether TQM has had any effect. It concludes that in many ways, TQM may ultimately have saved the industry. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
