Marijuana: Overview Of Issues

Abstract: 5 pages in length. The issues surrounding marijuana are both varied and complex. Depending upon one's personal position, marijuana may represent the complete moral decay of contemporary society or it may denote a painkilling substance for cancer patients. Even concerns as far removed as hemp products have given new light to the ongoing debate over marijuana and its usage. Historically, marijuana has been associated with a specific type of social culture: flower children, beatniks and hippies. Only in relatively recent times has the drug been more widely accepted and utilized for various purposes. The writer discusses that inasmuch as its effect is often numbing to the senses, marijuana has demonstrated itself to offer more than a quick high. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
