Abstract: This 60 page paper considers the mitigating factors that have redefined trade between the United States and Germany since reunification. This paper provides a brief historical view of the changes that have occurred over the past two decades, as well as the significant economic and legal reforms that have been put in place since 1990. This paper not only identifies the major players and the determining factors that have shaped economic change, but have also determined the link between the emerging status of the European Union and the importance for impacting trade between the reunified Germany and the United States.
