Abstract: A 5 page discussion of the societal responsibilities of an environmental engineer in ensuring the most appropriate disposal methods for hazardous wastes. Written from the perspective of an engineer who has worked for a federal regulatory agency for five years, this paper emphasizes the importance of staying abreast of the most recent developments in hazardous waste disposal, being able to work within a multidisciplinarian environment, and remaining convicted to the best choice of disposal methods despite public opinion or pressures from outside sources.
