Comparing Bradstreet And Taylor

Abstract: Anne Bradstreet and Edward Taylor were both poets of the Puritan tradition in New England. The poetry produced by Bradstreet and Taylor is very different, though both contemplate the spiritual aspects of their time. This 5 page paper argues that Bradstreet searches for religious meaning within the context of the physical world as she experienced it, while Taylor depended on the scriptures and his own Calvinist beliefs to provide a more metaphysical view of the spiritual interpretations of life. Both poets were steeped in the Puritan culture but interpreted procreation and birth in very different ways. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
