Abstract: An 8 page research paper that examines one of Benito Perez Galdos' Spanish masterpieces from the nineteenth century, Marianela, Galdos is arguably the most prominent Spanish novelist of that era. Pre-eminent in his own country, Galdos is also considered to be one of the most vital and one of the most representative novelists of the nineteenth century in Europe.
