The Christian Sacraments

Abstract: This 15 page paper offers a comprehensive discussion of the Christian Sacraments and their origins. The origin of the word 'sacrament' is discussed first. This is followed by a discussion of the meaning and number of sacraments. Finally, the seven sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church are discussed at length. Differences between how the Catholic Church and Protestant churches practice the sacraments are explained. Despite the fact that other Christina religions do not accept all seven, many do, in fact, observe the practices of most of them. Scriptural passages that reflect the origins of each sacrament are cited. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
